Perché è importante l’intestino ?
Voglio spiegarti perché spesso si parla tanto dell’intestino e della sua centralità. Principalmente, perché un corretto funzionamento di tutto il processo digestivo favorisce una condizione di benessere generale e quindi possiamo dire che la salute inizia proprio dall’intestino.
E’ definito ‘secondo cervello’ perché è molto ricco di terminazioni nervose, che gli permettono di comunicare con tutto il nostro corpo e ricevere informazioni dai vari distretti.. Lungo le pareti intestinali risiede una popolazione batterica molto molto numerosa: il numero dei batteri che vive nell’intestino è dieci volte superiore a quello delle cellule che costituiscono il nostro organismo. Nell’intestino risiedono anche virus, funghi, protozoi… L’insieme di questi microorganismi è definito MICROBIOTA.
Il microbiota supporta l’intestino nelle sue molteplici funzioni: Regola buona parte dei processi metabolici del nostro corpo, dall’assorbimento alla sintesi di sostanze importanti, e supporta la produzione di acidi grassi a corta catena. Produce antiossidanti, vitamine e sali minerali. Elimina le tossine ed espelle le sostanze nocive contenute negli alimenti. È la sede dell’80% delle cellule del sistema immunitario.
Contribuisce alla difesa dal rischio di infezioni, modulando il sistema immunitario e proteggendo da germi patogeni e tossine. Contribuisce alla produzione di €ormoni, tra i quali la #serotonina e la #melatonina. Queste sono alcune delle funzioni più importanti del nostro intestino, ed è il motivo per cui è importante mantenerlo in salute e occuparsi del suo benessere per avere benefici in tutto il nostro organismo
